James Sagar

HEAD OF COMMERCIAL BUSINESS

James Sagar is a seasoned commercial leader with more than 30 years of experience in supply chain, quality assurance, commercial planning, and operations within the energy and maritime industries. Appointed Head of Commercial Business at Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Inc. (HPSI) in 2025, he plays a dual role at Hanwha Ocean Americas and HPSI, ensuring coordination of efforts, alignment with customer needs, and the creation of business synergies.

James joined HPSI following a distinguished career at ExxonMobil, where he held a series of leadership roles, including Asia Pacific Marine Transportation Optimization Manager, Global Supply Chaing Manager, Basestocks & Specialties; and, most recently, Supply Chain Sustainability Project Executive. In addition to his tenure at ExxonMobil, he has served as Vice President of Marine Quality Assurance, Sustainability, and Technical Solutions at SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. and Head of Shipping Commercial at RasGas Marketing & Shipping.

James earned a Master of Business Administration degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marine Transportation from the State University of New York Maritime College in the Bronx, New York.
