Founded in 1997 as part of a strategic public-private partnership, Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Inc. (HPSI) has become one of America’s most capable shipbuilding facilities. Located at the historic Philadelphia Navy Yard, the Shipyard has spent nearly three decades building, sustaining, and advancing U.S. commercial shipbuilding and government shipbuilding programs.
HPSI’s success has been shaped by a highly skilled U.S. workforce, a commitment to engineering excellence, and deep engagement with maritime industry stakeholders. Over time, HPSI has expanded from foundational Jones Act shipbuilding programs to complex efforts that support national readiness and commercial fleet sustainability across the U.S. maritime industry.
Today, as part of the global Hanwha Group, HPSI combines localized craftsmanship with world-class shipbuilding capability to meet the evolving needs of the U.S. maritime sector.
